Hi Again to all my friends,
I've completed another model which I want to share with you.The model is a 1/72 Vautour IIN, made by a prolific Czech Republic model maker by the name of MPM/Azur.The Vautour was operational with the IAF from 1958 till 1972. 40 years after it was removed from service, a 1/72 plastic model kit has finally been released. To say that kit release was long awaited by Israeli Air Force enthusiasts is an understatement !This model is finished in a natural metal finish of several shades made by Alclad. To give the metallic colors the correct shine, the model is first painted with a smooth gloss black undercoat. The black primary layer acts as a reflector, much like that found behind a mirror..The Vautour IIN model in the photos attached, represents the Vautour radar interceptor version which servedwith the IAF's Bat squadron, between 1958 and 1963. In 1963 the Bat squadron received the Mach 2 Mirage IIIC interceptor and these two seat, radar equipped Vautours were transferred to the Knights of the North squadron in Ramat David. The Vautour was nicknamed Jet Mosquito, due to it's ability to perform the same missions carried out by the De Havilland Mosquito, two engine propeller driven airplane. In Bat squadron service, the Vautours served alongside the Meteor NF.13 night fighter. The shark mouth Ouragan was the first jet sold to Israel by France and the red lightning Super Mystere was the fastest interceptor escort to fly alongside the Vautour, till the arrival of the Mirage IIIC in April 1962..Hope you will all enjoy the pics.
Yours,Yoav Efrati
