TEL AVIV [MENL] -- Israeli elite combat units have introduced a newly-developed tactical command and control system during their invasion of the Gaza Strip.
Two unidentified combat units have been using an embedded system developed by Israel Aircraft Industries that enables commanders to track and monitor soldiers during urban warfare and conventional operations. The system provides commanders with situational awareness through the sights of assault rifles and ground-based sensors.
"Three combat units have been using the system and two of them are right now in Gaza," an IAI source said.
So far, the Israel Army has used the elite Golani Brigade and the Armored Corps 74th Brigade in the limited incursion in southern Gaza. The two forces have been conducting reconnaissance and searching for weapons tunnels around the village and airport at Dahaniya.
