IAI's Elta Systems Group Signs New Contracts valued at over $100 Million

Asian Aerospace 2006 ? February 21, 2006
Elta Systems Group, a subsidiary of IAI, has signed several new contracts valued at over $100 million for a range of coastal surveillance, maritime patrol and intelligence systems.
Coastal Surveillance Systems: Elta Systems Group has signed two contracts valued at $40 million with two countries in the Far East and West Africa. The systems are derivatives of Elta's EL/I-3300 homeland security system.
Elta's coastal surveillance system provides all weather, real-time coverage. The system is comprised of fixed and/or mobile coastal stations. These stations can operate locally or remotely through a computerized command & control intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) center. Data is collected and processed before being distributed to local commanders.
Elta's coastal surveillance system serves civil, paramilitary and military authorities, including the Police, Coast Guard, Customs, Vessel Management Traffic System (VMTS), port authorities and the Navy.
Maritime Patrol Systems for P-3 Aircraft: Elta Systems Group has won two major P-3 modernization contracts for two undisclosed customers, to supply maritime patrol systems based on the EL/M-2022A Airborne Maritime Surveillance radars. The contracts are estimated at $37 million.
Elta's EL/M-2022A is a multi-mode airborne maritime surveillance radar with Synthetic Aperture Radar Imaging (SAR and ISAR) capabilities. The units that will be used on the P-3 aircraft have been specially designed with one antenna providing 240-degree forward-facing coverage and two additional antenna?s providing 360-degree coverage. The antennas are fitted to the P-3?s nose and tail.
Advanced Ground-Based COMINT/DF System: An undisclosed customer has awarded Elta Systems Group a $37 million contract to provide new generation of ground-based Communications Intelligence Directional Finder (COMINT/DF) systems following an international competition.
Elta's COMINT/DF systems can be operated either locally or remotely by a Command & Control Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) center that defines the operational arena. The systems intercept, locate and monitor communication emissions over wide frequency ranges. This information is transferred to a Network Centric intelligence system that visually displays all communication networks on a geographic map called an Electronic Order of Battle (EOB). Elta?s latest generation of COMINT/DF integrated systems handle the operational challenges associated with dense communication environments, including short digital transmissions and frequent changes in network parameters.
