I'll take your word for it but don't you still have to tilt the weapon to one side in order to take out and replace the magazine and don't you have to smack the magazine to make sure it's locked in like on the M16?
Is it also easier to switch mags when standing up or on a knee?
I was also wondering if the magazine in the back touches the ground or interferes when firing from the ground position?

I guess that was a dumb question. I did my sadir with the Galil and trusted it so completely that after my reserve unit switched to the M16, I used to say that if a war broke out, I would steal one from the first jobnik I saw and use it instead of the M16. However after not using the Galil for almost 13 years I'm not sure anymore.

I've come to the conclusion that most of the M16 reliability problems and jams stem from the weak mags. Since the Tavor uses the M16 mags I wonder if this will not cause the Tavor, no matter how durable the gun is itself, to be just as reliable/unreliable? as the M16?

Even in winter the sun in 17 seems to be very strong. I think that you and your friend should have used some sunscreen lotion.
BTW, the first time I used an M16 was also in 17. Of course this was a few years before your time, when 17 was just a tent-city on the hilltop east of the current base. I was given the pakal of kala layla, with a short M16, the "new and compact" Varo night vision scope and a "laundry-pin" bipod. It was an easy job but I hated the M16 -it jammed all the time. I remeber one particular exercise with 15jams in 3 mags!
About using a double mag:
, whatever the reason for the second mag in the photo facing the backwards, the tsolevet is still in a "V" configuration so one of the mags will still stick out. If it's towards the outside it seems that it would interfere with the user's firing side arm, especially when running. If it's on the inside, I imagine that it would be in the firer's face?

If the article is correct and the Tavor really costs $1400 a piece, no matter how superior it may be I am very sceptical that it will be actually adopted. A brand new M4 or M16 costs the US Government only about $600 and the IDF can use aid funds to purchase them. A Tavor will cost the IDF real money!
I found the following picture of a disassembled Tavor. Can you explain if the piston and the bolt carrier michlol is one part like with the Gallil/AK and does the piston tip get dirty and need to be cleaned?
