PS-860 High Altitude radar.

The system is mobile and installed in mountain silos, where the 25 meter tower is raised and lowered for operation by a remote station.

A 5x5 meter Phase Array 3D S-band Radar, Electronically Steered in horizontal and mechanically in vertical. The estimated range is 300-500 km per unit and is expected to cover the entire nordic region including deep into Baltic, North German and Kola Peninsula area. Supposedly very difficult to jam. The number of units is classified but estimates put it at around 30.

PS-870 Low Altitude radar.

Used against low-flying objects as well as being the coastal radar against ships and sea skimming missiles.

Installed in the early 90s. Range is reported to be ~100km.

FSR-890 / ASC-890 AEW&C

S100B/D Argus EriEye, Air/Land/Sea radar system with a range up to 450km.
Active Electronically Scanned Phase Array antenna.
Two of the six machines will be fitted with independant Command & Control stations to support international operations.

JAS 39 Gripen

Since 2004 Sweden now have real Weapons Systems Operators for the 2-Seat version of the Gripen jet. The current PS/05 Radar has a range up to 160km and can datalink target information to other launch systems through the central network.

One additional role studied for the WSO beyond acting as "Mini-Awacs" is to be a operator of autonomous UCAV swarms. Three 150 x 200 mm full color displays is available. Pic is of a front seat but it's the same in the rear including the stick.

Best described as a Ground Based Awacs. A Master in a network of slaved sensors and missile systems. A electronically steered 3D C-Band phase radar, with up to 100 km range against land and sea targets. Higly Jam-resistant.

Mobile & with two operator stations. It can use data from other long range sensors such as PS-890 and then direct the radar for a more precise picture and feed target data to launch platforms. The system can recognise between helicopters and jets and thus send a fire mission to the best suited launch platform.

The more advanced missile systems (RBS23/HAWK) can also report back to the UndE23 and inform if they are out of missiles etc. Altitude is from Tree/Sea level up to 20,000 meters depending on coverage area. 100 own targets + 80 external can be processed at the same time. The Radar is basically the same as the Ericsson SEA GIRAFFE 3D AMB (Agile Multiple Beam) ordered by the US for the US Navy LCS class.

StriC - The Air Defense HUB

StriC is an air surveillance and tactical fighter control system that has been in operational use within the Swedish Air Force since 1998.

Without going into details, this is where information is allocated, commanded and distributed. Networked mobile operator stations that can quickly be loaded on a truck and transported to another location should the current one be compromised.

RobotSystem 97 (RBS 97) - HAWK

Is a custom upgraded (latest in 2006) American HAWK system for Sweden.
The system can now engage different targets at the same time, receive target data from external sensors, be grouped & transported while the missiles are installed.

Range 40km, altitude 17,700 meter. Targets include high altitude bombers, cruise missiles, a limited tactical ballistic defense. The HAWK system has been successfully used in combat by Israel against Egyptian jets.

RBS 23 BAMSE from SAAB Bofors Dynamics.

The most advanced and costly all-Swedish system. In limited series production since 2000 after years of budget issues, threats of cancellation etc. Looking aside from the economics of it all the system has always performed with satisfaction and with the new mobility requirements the system is 'hot' again.

It can be used against virtually any target from large to small, slow or fast. SAAB claim the system is functional vs Guided bombs, UAV's, cruise missiles, choppers, jets, low-signature bombers etc.

Altitude 20,000 meters, range 30km, radar range 100km. C-130 transportable, 6 ready to launch high manoeuvrability/velocity missiles. All day/night weather operation. Ericsson Giraffe AMB 3D radar.

RBS 70

Short range laser beam riding missile with extremly high accurancy and hit probability. Day/Night sights, Can be set up as a firing post with Giraffe radar systems. Several post can thus cover a large area.

Exists in a large supplies. Range up to 8km with Mach 2 BOLIDE missile, but most missiles in inventory is of the old Mach 1.6/5km type.

RBS 90

A unmanned version of RBS 70, sharing the same principle idea and missile.
The difference is the lack of some optics, two missiles ready to fire, and all guidance and launch is done by remote stations. All terrain vehicle with radar (not raised on pic) and command and control.

Combat Vehicle 90 AA - LVKV 90 (Luftvärnskanonvagn 90)

Based on the CV90 platform, the gun can elevate 55 degrees compared to only 35/27 on CV90A/B. Acquisition: Radar w/laser range finder, all weather day/night sights. 15km or 7.5km radar search area, 5 km effective kill range. 30 units in service.

Ammo 3P (3P=Prefragmented Programmable Proximity fuzed). 4 rds/sec. Automatic recognizion of chopper/jet and of enemy/friendly, 6 targets simultaneously, dealt with in a priority order.

LVKV 90 can also be used vs. ground targets. With APFSDS-T sabot up to 4km. Armor penetration ~120mm.

LvKv 90 TD a Technology Demonstrator to prepare for upgrades to the existing fleet. Upgraded with ability to Fire on the Move, V/O velocity radar, automatic IR-video sight.

During tests in a speed of 30 km/h the gun shot 54 rounds and hit 38 within 4 meters of the centerline of two moving targets (distance 2500 meters @ 360 km/h).

LvKv 90C

Adapted for international operations. i.e more armor, A/C.

All can of course be used as traditional 40 mm AA guns, as mentioned with various elevation level. The CV90C model can use 3P ammo.

לגבי התחמושת החדשה - לא מזמן הוצגה מע' בעלת אפיון דומה המבוססת על סולת נ"מ + מכ"ם שלה פותחה תחמושת ייחודית המבוססת על מרעום בסיס המוזן נתונים לגבי טווח למטרה ונק' הייזימה הנחוצה בעת היציאה מן הקנה באמצעות מערכת מיוחדת הממוקמת בסתרשף של התותח כשהתחמושת עצמה מבוססת על רסס היקפי של גלילי מתכת קשה.
