ranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi announces plans to inaugurate several “very important” defense projects in the fields of missile, ammunition and sea.
The projects will be launched on Tuesday in the presence of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on the occasion of the national Defense Industry Day, IRNA quoted Vahidi as saying on Sunday.
He added that the Iranian nation and armed forces of the Islamic Republic have thwarted the “biggest dangers and threats posed against the country's territorial integrity.”
Vahidi's remarks came a day after the deputy head of the Industry and Research Institute of the Iranian Defense Ministry, Mohammad Eslami, said that Iran plans to unveil the next generation of its long-range cruise missiles on August 22.
“With accurate programming, these missiles can target the enemy quickly and at the speed of lightning,” Eslami said.
In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems.
In January, Iran's Defense Ministry delivered new cruise missile systems to the Navy capable of spotting and destroying different targets at sea.
