NOW Lebanon’s correspondent reported on Tuesday that an explosion was heard in Majdal Aanjar—Bekaa near the town’s water tank, adding that the nature of the explosion remains unknown.

VOL: Explosion heard in Majdal Aanjar Tuesday night

The Voice of Lebanon radio station reported on Wednesday that a bomb exploded in Majdal Aanjar in the Bekaa Valley on Tuesday night. There were no reports of casualties or injuries.

The bomb was placed under the car of Sheikh Adnan Imama in Majdal Aanjar.

The Internal Security Forces (ISF) rushed to the scene and sent a group of criminal evidence experts to investigate the incident.

NOW’s correspondent in the Bekaa reported that Imama is a prominent sheikh in Majdal Aanjar and is considered one of the founders of the Wahhabi Movement in the area.

افاد مندوبنا في البقاع ان دوي انفجار سمع في تلة الشلمى قرب خزان المياه في بلدة مجدل عنجر.

ولم تعرف بعد طبيعة الانفجار بسبب صعوبة وصول القوى الامنية الى المكان لوعورة المنطقة.

NOW Lebanon’s correspondent in the Bekaa reported on Tuesday night an explosion in Majdal Aanjar, which later turned out to be caused by a hand grenade. No injuries or property damage were reported.

The National News Agency (NNA) also said that another huge blast was heard inside one of the training camps in the Sultan Yaacoub area, where the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – General Command (PFLP-GC) headed by Ahmad Gebril has a strong presence.

The agency added that armed group members cordoned off the area to prevent anyone from investigating the incident.

בסולטן יעקב לדברי המקורות הלבנונים מדובר בפיצוץ של מוקש.

הפיצוץ בשטחי האש של ארגון החזית העממית נישאר מסתורי ולא מפוענח,מה שפורסם תחילה כ"פיצוץ מוקש" הפך עתה לפיצוץ " עז".

צבא לבנון כהרגלו אינו מסוגל להכנס לשטח ולבדוק כי השטח בשליטה פלסטינית (ריבונות?).

Sultan Yaqoub Explosion Remains Mysterious, Military Source: Lebanese Army Has No Access to Area
An explosion overnight Tuesday in the Bekaa Valley town of Sultan Yaqoub which embraces a military base belonging to Ahmed Jibril's PFLP-GC remains mysterious due to the inability of Lebanese authorities to carry our necessary investigations.
A Lebanese military source said the army has no access to Sultan Yaqoub since it falls within what he called the "Qossaya site" in the Bekaa which is controlled by armed Palestinian factions.

He acknowledged, however, that the Lebanese army has checkpoints and positions on roads leading to the area "and we carefully check the identity of people entering Sultan Yaqoub."

"But we cannot prevent the presence of Palestinian arms outside the camps in that region," the military source said in remarks published Thursday by pan-Arab Asharq al-Awsat daily.

"The reason for that is that the group has direct link with Syria to the east," he explained. "Therefore, we have no control over arms transfer into the area."

He said Lebanese soldiers "often hear explosions and the bust of machine gun fire, but we can do nothing about it."

Commenting on the blast that echoed late Tuesday across Sultan Yaqoub, the source said the explosion was believed to be a landmine explosion in the vicinity of Jibril's training camp "where the group is thought to plant landmines every night."

Commander of the PFLP-GC in Lebanon Imad Ramez told Asharq al-Awsat he was "surprised" by the talk of an explosion at the group's headquarters in Sultan Yaqoub.

In response to a question, Ramez said: "These bases are known to belong to the PFLP-GC. The Lebanese army has outposts on the outskirts."

He said there was "constant coordination and cooperation" between his group and the Lebanese army on issues of Palestinian concern.

למרות הנימה הצינית שלי מדובר בבעיה הרבה יותר רצינית ממה שזה ניראה.
לדעתי 2 הפיצוצים שנשמעו אחד הם, המבנה הטופוגרפי והמרחק אפשרו שקול הנפץ ישמע בשני המקומות בענג'ר כ"רימון-יד" ובסמוך לסולטן יעקב כ"פיצוץ עז".
עיניין הריבונות הלבנונית חמור אף יותר מאשר שליטה על האחזויות פלסטיניות באזור לפחות במיקרה הזה לחזית העממית יש גישה חופשית וישירה לתוך סוריה ללא שליטה לבנונית על מעברי הגבול,,מעבר לגבול בצד הסורי במרחק קצר נמצא בסיס הכוחות המיוחדים (קומנדו סורי) של הקורפוס השני (דרום מערבית לזבדני),הבסיס הזה שימש בעבר בוודאות את המודיעין הצבאי הסורי לפני 2005 וללא ספק גם עכשיו ,גורם מקשר ומפעיל של גרורות הפרוקסי של הסורים בלבנון.אתה יכול לראות באזור הזה כשטח לבנוני לא משוחרר בהחלט.
