אז כנראה שהתשובה היא כן, מעניין את האיראנים. אבל אולי דווקא יותר מהצד המצרי
In a rare occurrence, Israeli navy traverses the Suez Canal, fueling speculations that the strategic waterway will function in a possible attack against Iran.
According to a port source, two Israeli warships made a crossing of the canal, headed from the Mediterranean to the Red Sea, on Tuesday, AFP reported.
One of the ships, the Hanit, had already crossed the canal both ways in June, in what the source said was the first case of a large Israeli warship using the waterway, although it was not possible for him to confirm this officially.
The Eilat was the other ship that crossed the canal on Tuesday.
The Egyptian waterway, which had not previously been used by Israeli vessels for intelligence reasons, was traversed for the first time in June when a Dolphin-class submarine reportedly sailed from the Mediterranean to reach military exercises in the Red Sea.
Israel's Yediot Aharonot which reported the event earlier last month, said "Egypt and Israel wanted to show their coordination in the face of Iran pursuing its nuclear program."
The daily said the Dolphin submarine's crossing, escorted by Egyptian navy vessels, was intended as a message to Iran.
Previously, Israeli submarines took weeks to round the whole of Africa and arrive at the Red Sea, according to the daily.
יש עוד תעמולה איראנית רגילה על גרעינים וכאלה, אין טעם להעתיקה
