SS-10/11 "Sna'i" and Saggers
The sna'i served in Zahal in the early seventies. The missile itself is comparable to Sagger, with which I have some personal familiarity (being shot at, and shooting). The differences between the two missiles were both technical and operational (and economic). The Sagger is designed to be fired independently, dismounted. It travels in a folding case that one man can carry, and the periscope/firing bank is pretty small. The SS-10 insofar as I know, has to be mounted in a battery, and has no mode for infantry operation. The Egyptian MO was to scatter Sagger teams throughout infantry forces, operating independently (shades of Lebanon 2007: will we never learn?) and they TERRIFIED the tankers. The Squirrel, in contrast, operated in formal artillery batteries. I have no idea about the battle effectiveness of the SS-10, but the Sagger was quite awesome for its time (and a great deal of fun to shoot!). To add to the problem, Israel had a few batteries of SS10, while the Egyptians had what appeared to an unlimited supply of Saggers.
