על מחבל שהפגין חכמה בסגנון הזה וירה RPG7 על טנק ישראלי (מטווח שהוא היה יכול לירות באקדח במט"ק ביעלות רבה יותר)... תוצאות חכמת החיים הזו היו לא נעימות למחבל

בריגדה היא חטיבה מתמרנת עצמאית (עם גופי סיוע משלה)

אז מה זה REGIMENT ביניהם? החטיבה המתמרנת עצמה? גוף ממשי או סתם לציין שאתה צנחן ולא סתם חלק מבריגדה?

בצבא הבריטי "רג'ימנט" יכול להיות כינוי למה שמקביל אצלינו לחטיבה, אלא שמדובר יחידה עם "עבר" היסטורי. רג'ימנט ובטליון באותו משפט זה באמת מוזר.

אצל האמריקאים, לרג'ימנט יש תוקף יחידתי. ביחידות הסיור, הרג'ימנט מקביל לחטיבה.

גם הרג'ימנט ה-504 הינו יחידה היסטורית מבצעית (בניגוד לרג'ימנט הבריטי שנבנה בצורה קצת שונה) וגם הוא בסד"כ חטיבתי.

הפתרון לחידה הוא קל: צח"מ חטיבה 1 של אוגדת הצנחנים 82 הוא הוא רג'ימנט הצנחנים 504 והשם נשמר מסיבות היסטוריות של מסורת.
אגב, לכל חטיבה באוגדה ישנו שם רג'ימנטלי:
צח"מ 2 - רג'ימנט 325
צח"מ 3 - רג'ימנט 505
צח"מ 4 - " 508

התכוונתי לומר שהסיבות לשמות הן שונות. שם אחד הוא מספרי סדרתי. חטיבה 1,2,3 וכך הלאה. השני, שמנוצל ביום יום, הוא זה שקשור לשם ההיסטורי של היחידה. תשים לב שחט' 1 באוגדה לעולם תתיחס אל עצמה כ רג'ימנט 504. 82-1 הינו השם הרשמי.

רובה C7A2 רגיל לחלוטין, רק שחסרה הכוונת האופטית. ידית הסתערות לטובת החיילים שיוצבו באפגאניסטן.

מדובר בפירוק הפילבוקס האחרון של הצבא הבריטי בצפון אירלנד, במסגרת תוכנית security normalisation plan המעבירה את סמכויות הבטחון למשטרה האזרחית. למרות נדירותם, כן היו אירועים של ירי נ"ט בצפון אירלנד - היה גם ניסיון (מוצלח?) להבריח סטרלות וסטינגרים לאיזור.
אגב, קרוסמגלן (XMG) מוזכרת בספרו השני של אנדי מקנב. XMG נחשבה עיר קשה ומקור לתקריות רבות.
