Sweden concludes Gripen-Meteor integration firings

According to Saab, this was the last major trials task required to clear the missile for operational service on the Gripen C/D aircraft, with the company saying: "Full Meteor capability will be delivered as part of Gripen's latest MS20 (Materiel System 20) combat systems update for the Swedish Air Force [SwAF]. Once MS20 has been cleared for service, Sweden and Gripen will have the world's first and only functional Meteor BVRAAM capability."

Saab expects to deliver the final MS20 enhancement package to the FMV for operational test and evaluation by the end of 2014. It is due to enter SwAF service in 2015, making Sweden the first country to operationally field the 100 km+ Meteor BVRAAM.
