The HOPE/HOSBO glide missile family meets the requirements of the German Air Force for engagement of above-ground and underground targets as well as sea targets. Apart from the seeker, the modularly designed missiles use the same main assemblies. HOPE is at present in the demonstrator phase. From 2010, aircraft and UAVs of the German Air Force could be armed with HOPE/HOSBO.



HOPE is equipped with a high-performance penetrator warhead whose efficiency is superior to any other system presently in service. HOPE is therefore especially suited for engagement of terrorist centers and dugouts in cave and tunnel systems but also hardened above-ground and underground infrastructure targets.

HOSBO can be equipped with various warheads based on lethal and non-lethal impact principles such as blast/fragmentation or, in future, also High Power Microwaves. Thus, adapted effectiveness around and within the target is possible. In addition, collateral damage is avoided to the extent possible by using intelligent fuzes. The stringent requirements placed on precision within the target, all-weather capability and ECM resistance are fulfilled by means of GPS/INS guidance, electro-optical sensors and specially adapted target approach. Due to their aerodynamic design, glide missiles achieve an extremely long mission range while simultaneously retaining excellent maneuverability.

Due to the missiles' range, they can engage, for instance, anti-aircraft sites. Their maneuverability also enables engagement of agile targets such as high-speed boats and fast moving jeeps. In conjunction with the planned future data link and a camera sensor, target observation and selection ("eyes on target") will be possible so that the glide missile stops its target approach upon receipt of a mission abort command, overflies the original target due to its good flight characteristics and lands – in a controlled manner – in a deserted escape zone. This is especially of interest when engaging targets in asymmetric scenarios while observing stringent mission rules.

Development
The Modular Stand-Off Vehicle (MSOV) was first displayed as a concept in 1997 by Israel Military Industries (IMI) (then TAAS). It is a low-cost dispenser glide weapon design, optimised for use against area targets such as SAM sites and airfields. The system was originally called the Modular Stand-Off Weapon (MSOW), but this was changed to reflect its potential to carry other, non-lethal, payloads. Initial flight trials in the late 1990s were followed by fully-fledged development work from 2000 to 2004. According to IMI the MSOV began life as a national programme, but has 'moved on' since then and the company has adopted a range of possible payloads to fit the vehicle. These include anti-runway submunitions, anti-personnel/anti-materiel bomblets and anti-tank mines. A unitary penetrator warhead is also under development. The potential exists to develop a powered version of the MSOV, using the same engine as IMI's Improved Theater Air-Launched Decoy (ITALD). The MSOV is not yet in service but has completed its basic development and is available for sale.

Development
The Tactical Air-Launched Decoy (TALD) is a gliding air-launched system developed by Israel Military Industries (IMI, formerly TAAS) and sold to the US Navy as the ADM-141 (in partnership with Brunswick). The TALD is a derivative of the earlier Sampson decoy, developed in Israel during the 1970s.In 1991, Brunswick announced the development of an Improved TALD (ITALD) variant, with a turbojet engine, and the US designation ADM-141C. IMI has since taken over as sole source supplier of the ITALD (and TALD) to the US Navy. The TALD air vehicle shares obvious design similarities with IMI's unpowered Modular Stand-Off Vehicle (MSOV).

MSOV יצא כמעט עשור אחרי שמשון ודלילה, אז איך הם הפכו להיות נגזרת שלו? בנוסף, דלילה הוא טיל שיוט מונע לעומת שמשון ו-MSOV שהם חימוש גולש רגיל.

אהבתי את הכינויים השונים - LURKING BOMB ו LOITERING MUNITION...

חימוש גולש/דואה ראינו כבר בשנות ה-40, חימוש כזה עם הנחיית GPS ראינו כבר לפני יותר מעשור, קיטים של הארכת טווח (LongShot ודומיו) קיימים גם כן מעל עשור.
