Sawwan issues indictments against Jund al-Sham member, seven Lebanese who fled to Israel January 18, 2010
Military Investigative Judge Fadi Sawwan issued an indictment against Rami Issa Abdullah—a Palestinian national who is a member of the Jund al-Sham faction in the Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp—“for membership in an armed organization involved in terrorist acts.” Sawwan called for the death penalty and issued an arrest warrant against Abdullah, referring him to the permanent-military court for trial. Saawan issued a second series of indictments against Simon al-Shoufi, Hanna Heleihel, Nour Zaarab, Samir Eid, Karim Farhat, Munir Hashem and Moussa Hashem—who have fled to Israel—“for communicating with the Israeli enemy and entering Israeli territory without authorization.” He called for a sentence of three to fifteen years of hard labor for the defendants, also referring their case to the permanent-military court for trial. -NOW Lebanon
