Hi,
SSGP2 answered already very well.
DSR-1 is a heavy, expensive rifle with very good ergonomics, integral monopod and caliber changes easily. It's accurate, but not let's say "tactical combat enviroment" friendly - i.e. again heavy to drag around, crawling with it may cause malfunctions, stoppages etc... It maybe a great sniper rifle for urban LE/Anti-terrorists snipers, who carry the rifle into shooting position in the case.
Nevertheless German anti-terrorist unit, famous GSG-9 uses them currently as their sniper rifles. Before using DSR-1s, GSG-9 used Erma-Suhl SR 100 sniper rifles. GSG-9 tops their DRS-1s with Hensoldt ZF 6-24x72 scopes. There are some rumors that Saudis will also start to use DSR-1s or have already started. Anyway, the rifle itself is very good, otherwise GSG-9 wouldn't use it and nobody really questions the professional ability of GSG-9 members - those guys are really good on their jobs.
In the end, DSR-1 is a bit too expensive for common shooters or even snipers - 7500-8000 Euros for new one - and a bit too heavy? - 6.0 kilograms without the scope and 7.5 - 7.8 kilograms with the scope in .338LM caliber or maybe not too heavy in that caliber...
But it maybe excellent for those LE/Anti-terrorist unit snipers, whose organizations can afford it - no bedding problems ever, accurate rifle, very good ergonomics and fast changeability (calibers .308 - .338LM). Who knows?
Shoot well ! :49_b:
Cheers,
Mace
